I know, I know, you were expecting frocks! It's FROCKTOBER - a terrific initiative for raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Foundation AND a great way to raise awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer. I frocked 'til I dropped last year but am giving you all a rest from seeing me, me, me on your screens. I encourage you all to follow a frocker or two though and cheer and donate a-plenty!
All I've got for you for the new month of October is new hair...it's pink....it's big...it's making me feel pretty refreshed.
Winter was hard. I found it hard. But suddenly, in a strange typical Melbourne way, it's a hot 35 degrees today and we've gone from being covered from head to toes in puffer jackets scarves, beanies and boots to getting out in strappy dresses. All very confronting! Skin! Pale skin! Legs! Hairy legs! Body bits! Wobbly body bits! Yikes-a-rama!
Here's a pensive me thinking, "Is my beehive really high enough or could I make it higher???"
Do you like how I matched my earrings to the lime tree? Sooooo stylish!

an UN-TUTORIAL for pom pom head piece
Do you like my pom pom head piece? Or do I just look like my woolly brain is exploding from my head (yes I feel like my brain IS made of fluffy pom poms sometimes..)
Here's how I made it - although it's so basic I'm not sure I should even be giving instructions. It's an untutorial!
You will need:
scraps of wool
a trusty pom pom maker
and a hair comb.
1. make pom poms I made two different sizes and I also made a heap of them so I can do different colour combinations.
2. Use the wool around the centre of the pom pom to tie to the thick end part of a hair comb.
3. Stick it in your hair
It makes a good change from flowers...and it's woolly and warm for winter.

compliments
Yesterday the twins gave me a compliment. They said that I "almost look like that pretty lady on the computer" - (yeah that's as good as it gets from the twins! Makes a change from them laughing uproariously at me when I'm naked.)
"Who is this mysterious pretty lady on the computer?" I hear you ask. None other than HELGA VON TROLLOP!!! Yes! They said I almost looked as good as Helga! It made me day.
Still "experimenting" with (i.e. stuffing up) the hair colour. This is electric lava. I knew it wasn't quite right but couldn't find the colour I wanted. As Merle Haggard sang, "No it's not love, but it's not bad."

My Obsession with Looking Like a Retro Sit-Com Character....
I think I watched too much tv as a kid. I realise it has infiltrated how I look.
First, there was the Mildred..yep. Uncanny!
Next there was the Mrs Slocombe...yep. Long lost cousins.
And now...introducing...THE ENDORA!!!!
Now excuse me while I go and buy some blue eye shadow immediately!!!

vintage crochet cape
Finally finished this cape - it's from a vintage pattern which you can get HERE and I made it in vintage 10 ply purple peruvian wool(try saying that ten times quickly!)
As I suspected, it was a bit much with my purple hair.... so I dyed my hair orange.
Yes - it goes MUCH better with orange...
