Or how to make your shoe go from this...
to this!
The bad thing about cheap shoes - they fall apart.
These faux suede brogues from the op shop started shedding the fake wood heel on the first wear. Oh well - I didn't like the colour ( or lack there of) anyway.
And the good thing about cheap shoes...is that you can experiment on them!
I peeled off the fake wood veneer heel ( pretty easy as it was practically evaporating off!) and then I stuffed them with newspaper painted the suede with acrylic paint..it tool a few layers and I really massaged the wet paint into the surface...
and finished them off with some spray clear sealant....
and gold heels...because I had gold paint...but may change it....it's only paint!
What do you think?

Poncho Poser!
All this poncho desire and talk of making ponchos and I had to admit to myself - I DO HAVE A PONCHO! I found this vintage poncho in the kids section of an op shop recently. Sorry kids! This one's for me.
I'm wearing it with high necked lace blouse, vintage trousers, flower head band and my new blue suede shoes. Yep. Blue suede shoes.
It was quite tricky to get a shot of the whole outfit which is why I'm down here on the floor. The things I do for you blog readers....

Here's a shot of the shoes. They are, believe it or not, comfy to walk in. Really. Although I did find they were almost impossible to ride a bike in. (I did manage...just.)
Hmm. I spy a rogue block in the shot. Where is the stylist? Who left that toddler toy there? I haven't had a toddler in years! Has it been there all that time? Where's the butler?

There's a world in my shoes...
There is a whole world in the heel of my shoe...
A boy on a water buffalo...what is his name? Where is he going?
Away from a hut and the trees to the waves...
These carved shoes were often brought home by soldiers who served in the South Pacific in the Second World War. They were often TINY and therefore, never worn. This pair of vintage are adorning my Summer feet. I love carrying a world in each heel as I walk.
